WORD OF LIFE                                                                                             No. 17- 2007
TEXT – Mark 2: 19-21
"And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.  But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.  No man also soweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse".

As a natural body needs clothing, so the spiritual body also needs a raiment if it is to appear before the glory of God and live. We find in this parable the state of man at that time is no different with us today.  Many in the world today, believe that through their own efforts,  that those things that blot their raiment can simply be taken away by themselves and a new piece put in.  This was evident with the Jewish people, for they believed implicitly that they had the power, as God’s people that they had the power to do these things, and they were as it were patching their lives from day to day, but not realising the message in the parable.  If we have a garment that is wrong, perished or falling to pieces and we try to sew a new piece on it, wherever we sew, a new rent will come, and the state will be worse than it was before. What is required is to take the old garment and discard it, and accept and be given a new garment by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We know through history, the Jewish people in general, would not accept that, they felt that the garment that they had, could be rectified by themselves and through earthly sacrifices. Many people today in the world, do not see the need to accept from
Christ, this new garment that is given unto us in Baptism, this new garment that is a free gift of God, that is a garment if kept, can stand before God and His glory.  We do not always keep this garment clean and whole. Each time a sin is done then a part of this garment is blackened or becomes weak or become deteriorated, and we too, then should understand how God feels about looking down upon this garment of each and everyone of us. On that great day when Our Lord, Jesus Christ made His sacrifice, we understand God looked down upon the earth, for the whole earth is God's each of us are only part of the whole, and between heaven and earth, there was a great dark cloud which was the sins of the world, for each time we sin, this darkness comes between us and God, and we can read on that day,  that a great darkness came over the earth for so many hours as Christ hung on the cross. That was the assembling of all of the sin, all the shortfalls of this garment of man, all
this blackness that put the world in darkness, and there was no connection or light between God and the world.  Christ, when He took all of that darkness unto Himself, and in that moment His Father had to turn His back upon Him, for God cannot look upon sin, for there is no sin with God, and that is when Christ said, "My God,
My God, Why hast thou forsaken me?" In that instant the darkness over the earth was taken away, and we can read where Christ said, "It is finished" and then light appeared, an earthquake trembled the earth and once again the world was shrouded in a raiment that God could look upon. We have the opportunity to put on this raiment
through faith in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. When we take that raiment, then we must be prepared to keep it new and as time progresses, to not cling to the old things we allow to spot that raiment, for if there is a weakness or a spot, we must not try and patch it ourselves, for we will end up with a raiment that is renting
more and more, but we must be prepared to come before our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ as our High Priest, He has the power that He can grant unto us, the washing of that raiment, He can grant unto us to go where the blood of the Lamb is and call again once more on that blood to wash our raiment white, and make them ever new. The first step is repentance and avail ourself of the gift of the Holy Ghost, as Christ said to His Apostles after His resurrection, "Peace be unto ye.  Receive ye the Holy Ghost, whose so ever sins ye remit they are remitted". That Holy Ghost has the power to wipe away those patches, to forgive those sins that are part of our garment, and then open the door that we can go before our High Priest and ask Him to intercede before the Almighty God and His throne, and to grant unto us that washing material, the blood of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, so that our garment can once again be made new, and we can stand before that throne and we can ask the Lord for His blessings. What a wonderful gift that this has been granted unto us, but we do not always avail ourselves to this, and many in the world today, see that they can go through life seeking out their own soul salvation," trying to do those things by their own efforts to patch this garment, and keeping that garment patched so that in their faith they say that they believe, but they do not profess that faith by asking for this forgiveness and asking for this washing, which is done each  and every Lord's day  through the partaking of the sacraments.  We should always avail ourselves of these blessings to keep our raiment right in God’s sight.

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                   NO. 18 - 2007
TEXT - Psalm 23
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:  he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:  thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:  and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

The 23rd Psalm is probably the most well known and most revered of all David's Psalms.  I remember when I was only a small child of 5 years old, repeating it after our teacher until we had all learned it by heart.  It is still counted by me as one of the treasures which I learnt at school, and in times of stress and tribulation is a source of refuge and reassurance in God's grace.  It is a most beautiful song which welled up out of the faithfulness of King David's heart, giving praise to the Lord.
Today is always the first day of the rest of our lives, and as we enter into this unknown territory, this unexplored realm in the darkness of our ignorance, it is well for us to take in our hands the lamp of faith and confidence in God's grace which David so wonderfully portrayed in his 23rd Psalm.
David reassures us that the Lord is our shepherd who will care for our needs, calm us with still waters and restore our souls with His righteousness.
How marvellous are the words "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."  These words show the spirit of the man who slew Goliath. Cowardice has no place in them. These are the words of a spiritual hero. Jesus said "the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence and the violent take it by force "Matth.11:12. This means that to struggle upwards towards God out of the tearfulness and evil which is in this world is not something for the timid and fainthearted. Courage, determination and perseverance are required.  Even if we may not be big and strong in physique or worldly power we may strive after that inner strength and quality of the soul by which we shall overcome this world. One of our hymns tells us "Not to the strong is the battle, not to the swift is the race, Yet to the true and the faithful Victory is promised thro' grace."
The Lord nurtures and feeds us, even in the presence of our enemies, so that our cup of joy and blessings runneth over and our enemies are powerless to do anything about it.
Goodness and mercy shall be with us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Jesus came of the lineage of David and as Apostolic children of God, through our Apostles, we are of the lineage of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, and the same golden thread of God's blessings and love, which ran through David and Jesus, is extended through His Apostles, by the power of the Holy Spirit throughout the fabric of our Apostolic community.
"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:32).

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                                         No. 19 – 2007
TEXT - Matthew 28:19
"Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost".

We see clearly in these words of Christ, our God head, as a trinity.  One God, three in one.  The understanding of this seems to confound the wisdom of many, right from early times, even today. Those gifted in mathematics cannot seem to understand God's equasion, One + One + One = One. The Psalmist wrote of this in Psa. 119:130 "The entrance of thy words giveth light: it giveth understanding unto the simple".  We see we need to allow God's words to enter into us, then the light of understanding will shine, and this understanding will be clear even to the most simple. We know an entrance is the first appearance, and if we look at the first words of God in relation to the creation of man, we read in Gen. 1:26 "And God said, let us make man in our image". These first words or entrance, show us clearly that the Trinity God was being referred to and in verse 27, "So God created man in his own image". This shows clearly the three in one as we have a body, a soul, and a spirit.  Many other places in the scriptures, or God's words, give testimony of this. All down through history, even with pagan worship the God's believed in, were not just something to whom worship must be given.  If this were the case, worship would have long lost its appeal, as it was a giving exercise with nothing expected in return. The main purpose of worship is to always seek from that worship a blessing.  This is something that returns to us and no matter who we are, we all like to receive gifts.  A little child when receiving a gift, shows great appreciation and love to the giver of that gift, and we may even say while that gift giving is still fresh in their mind, even a kind of worship to the giver.  When God was about to lead His chosen people into the promised land, He chose a priest-hood who were to bless the people by giving them a benediction, which is an
authority from God, that they could take into their hearts to know from where the gifts in their lives were coming from.  In this benediction we again see God's words as an entrance into their lives which were to be a new way for them.  It again confirmed of a Trinity that had the one name,  Lord.  In Num. 6:24-26, we find that
benediction.
The Lord bless thee and keep thee.
We see the almighty power of the Father as the creator, in these words and must recognize all blessings come from Him and He controls all of our being. Rev.4:11 "For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created".
The Lord make His face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee.
We see the blessings that can flow from Jesus Christ, for we know that He came into the world as the Sun of righteousness and being in the form of man, we can look upon His face, as it were, to get our light. "I am the light of the world". If we receive this light, we will not walk in darkness. Grace came into the world and continues to be given unto us by Christ. John 1:17 "But grace and truth came by Jesus Christ".
The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
We know that the Holy Ghost is our comforter in life, that uplifts us when we are down, that teaches us of Christ and gives us hope and faith, and leads us to Christ in the Spirit to be granted His peace, which we can only receive when we are again reconciled with God. John 20:21-23 "Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them.  Receive ye the Holy Ghost, whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them".  We still today, receive this benediction from the Lord. How we accept it as a gift, is up to each and every one of us. Perhaps we should look around at a little child who is given a gift and try to copy that child. Firstly, we will see an air of expectation of about to be given something good that we have always desired. Then we see the excitement of receiving the gift. Then the joy of being able to show others what has been received, and then thanks and emotional affection to the gift giver.  We are made in the image of God, and He too is affected in the same way when gifts are given to us. Rev. 4:11 "Thou art worthy, 0 Lord to receive glory and honour and power".

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                   NO. 20 – 2007
TEXT - James 1:21.
"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls."

"Lay apart all naughtiness..."  With fatherly concern the Apostle advises us to let God's word be our guiding light. It will light up the dark corners of our hearts, making them pure and giving new and blessed life to our souls.
"Lay apart all filthiness and naughtiness." The Apostle addressed these words not to big sinners, whose sins were obvious, but to believers, to his beloved brethren. He also lets us know that there is filthiness and naughtiness in every human heart, even in every Christian heart, and that we have to struggle every day to rid ourselves of them.
The word of God shows us our hearts in a different light and lights up our souls very brightly, for it is the judge of our thoughts.  Nothing can be hidden from God. This applies to the Apostles as well as the brethren, therefore the Apostle advises us all "Receive the words of God!"  We are requested to do so with meekness; not obstinately or with pride. The Apostle is only God's mouthpiece, but it is the word of God alone which has the power to make us holy.  When we receive God's word humbly, not as man's word, but as God's word, when we accept it willingly and thankfully, just like a dry field receives the spring rain, just as a tree in bud receives the sun, then will there be a new light in our hearts and a new life in our souls.  The Gospel has Divine power to make holy all those who have faith in it.  The proof of our faith is in our actions. They should be the fruits of God's words which have been sown in our hearts. The Master said; "You shall be known by your fruits," not by your Baptism or Confirmation Certificates, not by the Church to which you go, not by the Priests whom you hear, not by the books which you read, not by your sighs, nor your tears, nor your words - but by your fruits will you be known!  Jesus warns us that the servant who, knowing his master's wishes and does not fulfil them, will have to suffer punishment.  The great danger of betraying our own souls is ever present.  Therefore receive the word of God meekly and practice it, so that you may be blessed.  It is very important that we become holy on earth, through God's word.  In eternity it might be too late.
David's holiness is seen when he says in the Old Testament "Lord had your words not been my comfort, I would have perished in my misery." The Apostle Peter acknowledged, "Lord to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life."  God's word of truth and love must be put before everything else, then will it light up our path. Not only will our hearts be lit up, but through our behaviour it will shine on all around us.  With God's word we can comfort those in need of it, be it the sick, the widows or the orphans, on Sundays and weekdays, and with Peter we can say "Gold and Silver have I none, but what I have I give you in the name of Jesus." God's word that can make us holy, that can be the light of our faith, hope and joy.  This is the proper way to serve God, and the correct way to the edification of our souls.  Truly in this way those with troubled hearts will be lightened and dimmed eyes will shine again and the words come true "where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them!" Lord may your word light up our path as we journey through this world to the gates of heaven.

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                                         No. 21 - 2007

TEXT- Psalm 65-2
“O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.”

We have been taught that all of our prayers must be done in sincerity and with whole heartedness.  When we search the scriptures we will not find anywhere where God ever demanded us to pray but rather as out text tells us that we should have the desire to come to Him that hears our prayers.  Jer 29:13 “And ye Shall Seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”  What we pray for in our lives is very important to recognize how God receives our prayers.  I recently read this short parable about prayer which sums it up 100%.

I asked God to take away all my pain.
The answer came – No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
The answer came – No.  Her Spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
The Answer Came – No.  Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
The Answer Came – No.  I give you blessings.  Happiness is up to you.
I talked God to spare me pain.
The Answer Came. – No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my Spirit grow.
The Answer Came- No. You must be the one to grow, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
The Answer Came – No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all good things.
I then asked God to help me love others as much as you love me.
The Answer Came, Ah, finally you are on track.

In life it is often in the times of great tribulation that the greatest of all gifts shines more brightly.  I Corn 13:13 “And now abideth faith, hope, charity (Love), these three: but the greatest of these is Charity (loving kindness).

The Apostle John recorded for us the fundamental message that God was showing to us by Sending His only begotten Son to be our Savior and Redeemer  by recording Christ’s words in John 13:34 “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love  one another.”

As we contemplate our attitude to pray, let us also dwell on the words of that so favorite hymn sung by so many around the world.

What a friend we have in Jesus.  All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
Have we trial and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discourage:  Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows Share?
Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer.

Let us continue to always play our part in keeping the armour of God present in our lives as in Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayers and supplication in the Spirit, and watching there unto with all perseverance and supplications for all Saints.”

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                                                    No. 22 -2007

TEXT – Romans 14:8
“For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord:  whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.”

During Easter we are confronted with the natural death and the new life of the risen Christ.  God needed His Son to take this path, to prove that Christ is Lord over death and life (Verse 9).  It was God’s will that all people had a chance to follow Christ, even those who had not heeded Him during their life time.

Apostle Peter writes in his first letter.  “By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah , while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is , eight souls were saved by water.”

Through the gospel, which Christ Himself had preached to the departed, even so they had been given enough time during their life time, God gave everyone who had lived under the law of Moses a second chance to accept Jesus as the Messiah.

TODAY THE TIME HAS COME FOR US.
It is the same for each one of us:  from birth to death.  This is the reason why everyone who put his will under the will of God and accepts Christ, has a chance to be saved because Christ leads us to God.
No one lives for himself or dies for himself, writes Apostle Paul.  Our life belongs to Christ.

He gives us peace, He makes our life bearable.  Christ said to his disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” John 14:27.  This peace is not our reward but a gift from Christ.  His peace brings us into the presence of God, Our Creator.

Let this peace of Christ permeate our whole being, Spirit, body and soul.  Through this comforting promise the world has no claim on us.  Our worries disappear.  Errors of the past are wiped out through the peace of Christ.  The fear concerning past sins disappear through the faith in Jesus Christ.  “WHO DIED FOR OUR TRANSGRESSIONS.”

In one of our hymns we sing,
‘What a Peace’
Peace, Peace, Peace fills my heart
from the fountain that flows for me.
See the Lamb of God heals my pain,
gives salvation, sins are forgiven, the price is paid.”

Wishing all a blessed journey in faith.  May the peace of our risen Savior be always with all.

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                                         No. 23 – 2007
TEXT – Psalm 132:8-18
“Arise, 0 Lord into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.  For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed. The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.  If thy children will keep my covenant and, my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore. For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.  This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision:  I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.  There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.  His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”
We see therein God declaring that this new creation the church will come about only when one can sit in the throne of God. That is why Christ ascended to Heaven and He will clothe His priests with righteousness, not that they will be righteous, but they will be able to distribute the blessings of grace and the righteousness of Christ through the Body and Blood of Christ to all who wish to be part, and the saints will shout for joy.  That will not be an outward shouting, but an inward shouting within each and everyone of us as we realise and partake of this inward salvation, the righteousness of Christ.  Our whole being, our soul shouts for the joy that we now have the opportunity to be part of this coming kingdom.  This will be given as a promise through David and his flesh shall sit in the glory of God. We know that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ's lineage came from the lineage of David, and He desires to make Zion His home.  Wherever we see Zion used in the Scripture that refers to the church. Christ and God wish to make their home within the church, within the hearts of each and everyone of us, and He will do that, He will light a lamp, the lamp of the Holy Spirit will be sent as a guide within our lives and we can look forward as part of this new creation to see that Kingdom of God. It is a glorious promise. It is a wonderful promise for the church. The church is a generation, a creation.  It does not end when each and everyone pass from this life.  The church is in three storeys the Scripture tells us.  The Prophet Ezekiel (42:3) saw this spiritual temple and he saw the residents there in three storeys, and so it is with the living church. We live on this earth, the second storey is Paradise, and the third storey is for the martyrs under the Golden Altar.  As we leave this life we do not lose our place in this new creation.  There is a wonderful blessing that is available for us.  Remember that man could not go to the glory of God before he partakes of the tree of life.  God did not destroy the tree of life.  He put it into safe keeping.  We read in the Scriptures where that tree of life is.  It is in Paradise.  (Rev 2:7) That is why when we leave this life we have to take that journey, firstly to Paradise for an express purpose, so that we can partake of the tree of life, and then when the Lord returns He will bring us, and we will be reborn as the resurrected body comes from the
grave, the spirit from Paradise, we then will be spirit first and body second, the same as our Lord.  We will then
have been allowed to partake of that tree of life and have the promise of eternal life.  Blessed and holy are they
who partake of the first resurrection for on them the second death holds no fear. (Rev. 20:6)  What a wonderful gift that has been given to the church.  This wonderful way that we can now allow this spirit to lead us and know without any worries, without any concern that God is still caring for us and we have the availability of that tree of life.  Those who remain on the earth will be converted in the twinkling of an eye. In simple terms Christ will feed us also with that tree of life and we will begin the Kingdom of God, a thousand years of peace where there will be no death, no sorrow, no crying, no sickness. It is unexplainable.  Words cannot explain, for eyes have not seen the glory that awaits.  The Scripture gives us some indications of what it will be like.  We have already heard that in the Garden of Eden there was no death and animals and everything ate of the vegetation, and so it will be according to the prophet in the Kingdom of God.  The children will sit down with the lions.  A child will be a hundred years old before he celebrates his 1st birthday.  We will have peace.  The Prophet Isaiah saw and the Prophet Amos said there is a time coming when the ploughman will catch up with the reaper, there will be so much food, there will be so much blessings that we will not be able to make use of all of this.  The greatest gift, the greatest joy, the greatest shout for joy that we will have in our hearts during that time will be to see the happiness of God in being able to extend His goodwill to all mankind.  What a wonderful joy to see the Heavenly Father victorious and to see that His will has been done!  It is worth fighting for, and yet the battle has already been fought by our Lord. We just need to hearken unto His word as the Psalmist said. Our Lord, before his Ascension to Heaven, gave to His disciples three simple words of teaching which is for us to-day still should be one of His greatest teachings.  John 21:12 “Jesus saith unto them, Come and Dine.  This same call goes forth from Spiritual Zion to-day to each of us.

WORD OF LIFE                                                                                                         NO. 24 – 2007
TEXT – Hebrews 11: 1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

This is the description given in the bible to understand the Christian faith, the important point.  Surely, for this reason this verse has been the basis for many services.  In the bible translation “hope for all” this verse is quoted as follows.  “What do we call faith?”  Faith is the firm assurance that God’s promises will be fulfilled, it is a deep conviction that God’s spiritual world is reality, even though we cannot see it yet.
By this faith our forefathers received God’s testimony!  What secret is contained in the description of faith, what treasure is shown in this way when God reveals Himself unto us!  He loves our confident expectation and unmovable conviction – HE seeks it in us – HE wants to convince us the same as our forefathers.
The 11th Chapter of Hebrews invites us to reflect on this FAITH in pictures which speak for themselves.
Verse 3 THROUGH FAITH we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

By Faith we understand.                                 Perception, Recognition, Knowing right from wrong.
Verse 4 BY FAITH Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

By Faith we receive the desires to bring sacrifice.  Reasons: Love, Gratitude, Loyalty, Obedience.
Verse 5 BY FAITH Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

By Faith we shall not see death.                    In this spiritual death.
Verse 7 BY FAITH Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

By Faith in the fulfillment of God’s word.    To trust the word of God, contrary to the advice of other people.
Verse 8 BY FAITH Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

By Faith we become obedient.                       Go!  Act!  Speak!
1Thessalonians 5:24 “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”
Verse 11 THROUGH FAITH also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.

By Faith we receive.                                       Our daily life, our lives cannot remain empty.
By Faith we trust in God’s promises.                        Such as Sarah, who was promised to conceive despite her age.
Verse 19  Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

By Faith we think.                                          A new way of thinking can be learnt.
Verse 27 BY FAITH he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

By Faith we cling to that which we cannot see, as if we would see.
Living a life as if He were with us.
Verse 29 BY FAITH they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

By Faith obstacles are removed.                    Not that there are no obstacles,
but Faith instead of our own strength.
Verse 30 BY FAITH the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

Without Faith these things could not be overcome.  Which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

No wonder, without FAITH it is impossible to please God, for to come to God you have to believe that God is God and rewards those who seek Him.
